Glow from its own power

Glow from its own power

Nature as a role model

Nature shows us once again how it deals with darkness, winter and inhibited vegetation. We humans often refer to such seasons as gloomy seasons. Times in which the leaves lie brown in brown on the ground. Times where no sunbeam shines through the gray blanket and touches the ground.

Nevertheless, who strolls attentively through the forest, notice the glow in some places on the ground. Moss and fern seek their way through the foliage and present themselves in bright green glow. No ray of sunlight may be visible to our human eye and yet these plants glow. These plants have everything they need to grow, to radiate - just to shine.

Many a candle is lit in dark times. Many a heart seeks the warmth in the fire or in life. But sometimes there is only the silence and loneliness. If we orient ourselves to the moss plants, then we recognize in the peace and the supposed loneliness that in us everything is, which makes peace and healing possible in us.

Before this may be experienced, a time of recognizing is announced. Recognize that the earth carries us, heals us if we are human ready for it. The foliage of our active days falls to the ground, the days are getting shorter and gloom spreads. Who recognizes the calm, who recognizes that a cycle can not always rise, who recognizes how the moss now lives their annual heyday.

Moss plants feed on water, carbon dioxide and mineral salts. The absorption of water and carbon dioxide occurs through the entire surface of the moss leaflets. In the light and with the help of the green leaf pigment, chlorophyll, the substances glucose and oxygen are formed in the moss leaflets from carbon dioxide and water. They feed autotrophically.

The oxygen is released through the surface of the moss leaflets. So moss is a supplier of oxygen in winter when photosynthesis of other leaves is not working. Glucose is the basis for the formation of other substances, such as starch and fats. For the formation of other substances, e.g. protein, the moss plants also need mineral salts. They take these from the soil in dissolved form with the rhizoids. The formation of substances in the moss leaves is a prerequisite for growth.

Back to humans. When it has become autumn around us, who or what produces our laughter, raises our seratonin level ? Where is the function of the moss plant in us?

Deep inside us, there is also everything we need to be happy and healthy. Let the leaves fall to the ground and feed on good water and minerals. Let our body feel what it needs to eat healthy. After a not too long time we recognize the glow that arises. A glow that feeds from our inner source and gives light and joy to the outside. A light that may be carried to the outside. A light that is in turn - in a positive sense - contagious.

I wish you an adventurous Advent season and much joy in the lightful glow.

Sincerely,
Patrick Roth, 15.12.21
